Myles K. Getson Memorial Volunteer Award
The Myles K. Getson Memorial Volunteer Award was established in 2001 to honour the memory of Myles K. Getson. Myles was greatly involved in the community and volunteered his time with many organizations. He was also a long time member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Auxiliary and the Alberton Fire Department. He served on Town Council for four consecutive terms, from 1988 until his sudden death on April 29, 2000.

Every year, Alberton Town Council selects a member of the community who best personifies the qualities of this award through their volunteer work in the community.
