Town Hall - Mayor & Council

Mayor Micheal Murphy was elected in the 2009 General Election and began his term in office on 16 November, 2009. This is his first term as mayor. The Mayor of Alberton is the chief elected official of Alberton. His duties include chairing all regular and special town council meetings. The mayor does not vote on motions presented at the town council meetings unless there is a tie.

Councillor David Cahill
Councillor Cahill was elected to Town Council in the 2009 General Election. He had previously served on Town Council for the 1988-1990 term and was re-elected for the 1991-1993 term. He was elected again in the 1997-2000 term and was re-elected twice to serve in the 2001-2003 and 2004-2006 terms. Councillor Cahill is chair of the Finance & Streets Committee and he sits on the Environment Committee

Councillor David Campbell
Councillor Campbell was elected to Town Council in the 2009 General Election. He had previously served on Town Council for the 1994-1996 term and was then elected as mayor to serve in the 1997-2000 term. Following this, he was re-elected as mayor to serve for the 2001-2003 term. Councillor Campbell chairs the Environment Committee and sits on the Finance & Streets, Recreation, and Tourism & Property Committees.

Councillor Alan Curtis
Councillor Curtis was re-elected to Town Council in the 2009 General Election. He had previously served on Town Council for the 2004-2006 and 2007-2009 terms. Councillor Curtis is chair of the Police Committee and he sits on the Fire Committee.

Deputy Mayor Claudia Gallant
Councillor Gallant was elected to Town Council in the 2009 General Election. This is her first term on Town Council. Councillor Gallant serves as Deputy Mayor, chairs the Recreation Committee, and sits on the Finance & Streets, Fire, and Tourism & Property Committees.

Councillor Shane Gillis
Councillor Gillis was re-elected to Town Council in the 2009 General Election. He had previously served on Town Council for the 2004-2006 and 2007-2009 terms. Councillor Gillis chairs the Fire Committee and sits on the Environment and Police Committees.

Councilllor Krystyna Pottier
Councillor Pottier was elected to Town Council in the 2009 General Election. This is her first term on Town Council. Councillor Pottier chairs the Tourism & Property Committee and sits on the Police and Recreation Committees.
