Nominations for the positions of mayor and town councillor in the upcoming general election closed Monday, 23 October at 4:00PM. Perry Morrell was the only person nominated for mayor and has therefore been acclaimed mayor. He will begin his term on 1 January, 2007.

A total of seven people will be running for the six council positions. Those nominated are:

The advance poll will be held Saturday, 28 October from 9:00am-7:00pm at the Town Hall, located at 10 Railway Street. The election will occur Monday, 6 November, also at the Town Hall, and the polls will be open 9:00am-7:00pm.
